We're looking for a Back-end (or Full-Stack) Engineer to develop our client-facing web app, currently an MVP in alpha/first user tests.

You've got a “get shit done” attitude and interest in what we’re creating, eager to join a positive energy startup. Ideally you’re a collaborator and self-starter comfortable with uncertainty and (structured as far as we can handle it!) chaos.

You will be core to creating an awesome user-centered experience, helping shape the product & user joy, and our culture as one of our first hires. You take pride in high quality, reusable code and you're excited about our "fail fast, iterate faster" approach. You understand the need for frequently changing requirements and features. Who’s Gyfted?

We’re an early-stage startup out of Stanford University building software to help match job-seekers and career changers with teams not only based on their CV and skills, but also personality and culture fit. Our psychometrics+AI tools (psychological measurements of personality) are built on an open access platform to enable individuals to safely use our tools to get personalized feedback for personal growth purposes, as well as job matching.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience (or equivalent) in JavaScript, NodeJS

  • Good understanding of building a scalable product.

  • Proficient in Git.

  • Proficient in English.

  • Great communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Interest in psychology / culture / mental health

  • Experience working with MongoDB, GCP.

  • 1+ years of experience in React.

  • Experience in Redux & Redux-Saga.

  • Experience in deploying services to production.

  • Experience in HRTech / recruitment / talent development / self-development

  • Prior experience with customer-facing products handling sensitive data.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our core engineering team and founders to define, architect, scope and build user-facing features.

  • Optimize the application for maximum speed and scalability.

  • Contribute to continuously improving team productivity, code quality, tool, and technology adoption.

  • Ensure efficient and reusable back-end system and abstractions.

  • Contribute to continuously improving team productivity, tool, and technology adoption

  • Use our data and insights to inform your choices where good enough beats being perfect

Compensation

  • 4000+ USD/month plus equity, depending on experience

  • Flexible work hours + remote-first culture we’re building

  • 4+ weeks vacation per year
